Thomas Brown (1827).
RR notes state that he was a Royal Marine on HMS Cleopatra which was active from 1835 to 28 September 1853, from which time she remained at Chatham until being dismantled in 1862 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Cleopatra_(1835)). She did not therefore take part in the Crimea War (5 October 1853 - 30 March 1856), but that doesn't mean that Thomas didn't as he could have been reassigned to another ship.
On Ancestry there are a number of suggested dates for his death. We know that in the 1871 census his daughter Fanny Eliza was living with her grandmother and other family members.
There is a 1871 census record for a Thomas Brown, labourer, aged 45, living in Redhill, but he is down as married not widowed.
There is a burial record for St John's Redhill on 6 Feb 1878 for a Thomas Brown aged 51. There is an equivalent Index death record for Reigate.
The Brown family chart shows his death date as 1880.
If he was in the Army was he away from home? Did he die abroad??
On his daughter's wedding record, in 1883, her father is recorded as "Army pensioner" - not "deceased".
