Note

Mary Margaret Brown was the daughter of John William Brown, an engine pattern maker in the ship yards, and Mary Brown. In 1881 they lived at 81 Victoria Road, South Shields. By 1901 they had moved to 77 Saville Street, South Shields; Mary Margaret was a dressmaker, her sister Ada (aged 18) was a draper's assistant.
